Partnership Missions 2011 MISSION OPPORTUNITIES
Romania: Brittany Garton will be moving to Bucharest on June 8th to continue her work with the Roma people in Romania. This summer Project Ruth needs teams of 7 to 9 individuals who will do Vacation Bible School and various other activities at the Ruth School and in other Roma villages. Siberia: Charlie Hardie, working with Unreached People of Siberia, is planning a trip to southwest Siberia from June 27th through July 9th of this year. The team will plant a Baptist church in the city of Chelyabinsk in the Ural area. This city has a population of one million people, but only has twenty evangelical churches to minister to them. The cost for the trip will be $2500 per person. For more information please check the website at www.theupos.com.
Switzerland: Two teams are being sought to work with the International Baptist Convention at their Annual Summer Conference. One team will be a Children’s Ministry Team and will provide child care and instruction for the children of the ministerial families at the Conference. The second group is a cooking team for the Euroventure youth camp which is held for the young people from the same families. Both teams will work in Interlaken, Switzerland July 7 through the 17th.
Moldova: Construction teams have been requested for the Philadelphia Church in Anenii Noi and a church plant in Rumeantev in the Republic of Moldova this year. In addition the Philadelphia Church has requested a Vacation Bible School team for this summer and a team to work with the social ministry, primarily with senior adults, this year.
Panama: Churches from the Goshen Association will be providing money to purchase seven horses with tack to be used by Panamanian missionaries in the province of Chiriqui. In addition, teams are requested to build a total of six “temples” this year, five in the Ngobe Bugle area and one in Gualaca, and to renovate an existing chapel. Medical personnel are being sought for specific projects this year as well.
India: ThePrecious Children’s Home has requested two Vacation Bible school teams to work with the children in Areepparambu, Kerala State. One team would be needed in late March and the other in early April.
South Africa: The Jehovah – Nissi Church of the Grasslands of the Free State has requested an evangelical team to work with the church this year. The team would provide evangelistic services at the church site, visit in prisons, health clinics and schools in the area.
Standing Rock Indian Reservation: Standing Rock, a reservation covering 2.3 million acres on the borders of North and South Dakota, is home to nearly 8,500 people who struggle with difficult life circumstances. This year, Virginia Baptists will assist the three Baptist churches there with children’s, sports, medical, and construction ministries.
Coeburn, Virginia: Craigs Baptist Church is continuing their involvement with the Brown Bag Ministry in Coeburn, Virginia. The Goshen Association will assist Craigs by collecting peanut butter, jelly, underwear, socks, back packs and school supplies to be used by the Fellowship Baptist Church of Coeburn as they continue this good work. Stop Hunger Now: On October 9th, our Association will hold a meal packaging event in conjunction with the Stop Hunger Now organization. We hope to raise over ten thousand dollars to purchase food supplies to be used by schools, churches and other groups across the world to alleviate hunger in their area. All our Association churches and members are invited to come to the Craigs Church on the 9th of October to take part in the preparation of the food packages that will be used to provide healthy meals for children and families in distress.
